The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has announced important updates regarding mandatory contributions for non-Malaysian workers, effective October 2025. Employers must take immediate action to ensure compliance. Below are the key details and steps required.


1. Effective Date & Contribution Rates

  • Applicable to: Salaries paid in October 2025 (contributions due by November 2025).

  • Contribution Rates:

    • Employee: 2% of monthly salary

    • Employer: 2% of monthly salary

  • Coverage:

    All non-Malaysian workers (excluding domestic helpers) holding a valid passport and work permit issued by the Malaysian Immigration Department.


2. Action Required for Employers

EPF records indicate that some companies:

  • Have not yet registered as an EPF employer, or

  • Requires updates to existing registration details.


Immediate action is required to comply with EPF regulations.


3. Registration / Update Process

  • In-Person Registration: Visit any EPF office to complete the process.

  • Required documents: Refer to the EPF's official guide for details.


4. Consequences of Non-Compliance

Failure to register or update employer details is an offense under the KWSP Act 1991 and may result in:

  • Legal action

  • Fines or penalties


5. Streamlined Process for Non-Malaysian Workers

  • Eligible workers will be automatically registered once requirements are met.

  • Employers will receive a follow-up notice confirming registration status.


In view of the above, please be advised to act accordingly to avoid any penalties imposed by the Authority.
